Names

I was going to come up with a clever post to go along with this, but that would be unnecessary as this website says it all.

I especially liked the "Best of" section.

Those poor children.

I think we should name our next child "La-Le-Va"—we could keep with the "L name" theme and really give him or her some Utah heritage ... and is it really so bad? I mean, we'd be avoiding tacking the prefixes onto anything substantial and instead we'd simply celebrate their own lovely resonances :)

I love the irony of this being posted by the man that threatened to name one of his children (boy or girl, it didn't matter) Fourier.

I thought I was threatening to name my frisbee fourier. And I did.

If I was going to name my child fourier, it would be LaFourier.

This makes me want to cry. Really. Did any of you read about the Utah couple that was arrested for kidnapping their daughter so she would miss her wedding in the Provo temple? The father's name is Lemuel. That's right. I can sort of understand Nephi or Moroni or something like that. But Lemuel? Were his brothers named Nehor and Shiz?

There's nothing wrong with naming a child/Frisbee Fourier. Except you would have to name the next one Taylor. I named my first disc Euler.
Jon, when I saw this list for the first time (it was actually at the beginning of this year) you were the first person I thought of.

This is from a list of volunteers in nameless town that is in Wyoming but close to the Utah border. You'll notice that there aren't any La-Le-Lous, but there are some good ones.
Shaylyn
Barb
Welsh
Aubree
Eletta
Kalicen (I don't even know how you pronounce that, but it's white name)
Janey (actually, I like this one, but I think I'd stick with Jane as the real name)
Echo
Penny Jo
Shalee
Merissa
Georgetta
Kortnie
Duice
Wisty
T J
Marvine
Nanc
T
Benjerman (I'm not kidding)

Having just made fun of their names, I better make it clear that these guys all did a fantastic job of raising money for cancer research and volunteering to help cancer patients in many different ways. They're great people, and a rose by any other....
